XXLART x World Class Youth Interview

Ok, so a few months ago I came across a company called World Class Youth. I did a little bit of research on them and I started to really like what they did, so a few weeks ago I emailed CEO Analyssa Benedict and asked her if she would answer a few interview questions so that our viewers can see what she and her company is all about. If your a fan of what we here at XXLART support, you’ll love World Class Youth! This girl Analyssa and her team have so much talent and not to mention she’s only 20 years old! So nevertheless, here is the interview questions we asked Analyssa:

What do you define Art as?
Art is the joyful expression one can make by bringing their inner talent to life. Weather it be a sculptor, a photographer, a painter, a model, a dancer etc. you are expressing what moves you on your own canvas for the world to see and if you can make another feel your soul then that is the Art of It.

What do you define a skilled artist, photographer, or a fashion designer as?
To me a skilled Artist is a passionate artist and if you take yourself and your work seriously then others will take you on as a professional.

What skills are needed to meet their standards of becoming a member of WCY?
To be a part of World Class Youth the first thing you have to do is WANT IT. You can see when a person genuinely wants something, at least i can read it pretty well. Other than that as long as you can show proof in the pudding that your work is all you and your goals and dreams somehow relate to your work then you are skilled enough.

What do you plan to achieve with your company?
Everyday is an achievement with WCY, always bringing on new challenges and new ideas it is such a creative refreshing environment. Overall the one thing i look to achieve is knowing that at least one person has come across us everyday, it really shows when we get new friends or tweets and even fan mail, our fans inspire us to dream big for the rest of the world.

What do you plan to show this world with your company?
World Class Youth plans to expose young talents everyday in every way possible, we want the world to know that there is something out there for those who need a foot in the door and want a beautiful opportunity. I was once in that place where all i wanted was to know where and whom to turn to, and now i have created a masterpiece for those like myself.

What do you plan to teach society with the work your company does?
Its not so much teaching society with the work done, its just about showing. We want to show this industry that surrounding yourself in a friendly, safe and exciting work environment is still possible within the cliche of people out there. We also want to show the world how a Los Angeles Based Production Company exceeds in finding and bringing in other organizations to take part in our good-doing.

What do you like about your company?
“Like” is such and understatement, LOVE is more like it, everyday this company seeks to amaze me, i love everything about it and everyone who is genuinely involved in our work and growth. Of course there is ALWAYS going to be a few out there who are lost in self seeking ways but you need to love them too and i do.

What do you hope your company will achieve?
My biggest hope that everyone and anyone who has a question or interest in World Class Youth will come to us directly for information and advice. We are always here with open arms and a big believer that you don’t know us until you have experienced WITH us.

Why did you choose to get into the art, fashion, and photography business?
It’s not that i have chosen to have taken part in this business, its more that i was placed here with a purpose and every single day that i wake up i am ready to take on the day with the dreams i had that night. The adrenaline rush and beauty of it all keep me going.

What does your name symbolize?
“WORLD CLASS YOUTH” lets think about it, we are dedicated to the world in the most classy professional yet unique way possible represented by the young hearts of this industry and we OWN it. That pretty much sums it up.

Is exploiting youth a movement to teach future generations to appreciate art, fashion, and photography?
Exploiting youth is a Movement to REACH OUT to your sisters first daughter, who is in awe of the kind lady that did her makeup for her first dance recital, to your shy cousin who gets his first camera for christmas this year with a future seen through his lens, its to tell the tall awkward skinny girl in your science class that behind her eyes is a dream bigger than last years prom queen, it is as well to today’s service volunteer to know that there is so much more out there within reach. This Movement is to tomorrows generation to see that together we all deserve a chance and own a purpose. Appreciation just comes naturally with the whole package

- Here’s a look at some of the everyday things WCY does, get familiar!

Bathing Ape x Kid Cudi Interview & Photoshoot

Kid Cudi was featured within A Bathing Ape’s new catalog for the 2010 Summer season. Shown are a collection of images from the shoot along with an interview seen below. The photography was shot by Guy Aroch. Its definitely been busy times for the multi-faceted Scott Mescudi. Enjoy!

How was 2009? The release of your first album and touring must have been highlights?

Looking back at 2009 is just really overwhelming for me, the fans have carried me so far and I’m just enlightened by all the love I’ve received thus far. The highlight is traveling and meeting all these beautiful young people who feel how I feel. I speak their language.

You worked at BAPE STORE NEW YORK before. How did that come about and why did you want to work there?

I was always a fan of the brand but it just wasn’t something I could afford back then. I remember working there my first couple of weeks in the same uniform cause I didn’t own anything prior to being hired. So it was a dream come true to be able to work at the store I dreamed of shopping in one day. Over a couple of years I might have applied at the store 3 or 4 times before the last attempt that got me hired. I fell in love with BAPE because of their color selection and artwork. I love the style of their cartoons.

How did you first get to know about BAPE?

I discovered what BAPE was when I moved to NY, the store opened up shortly after I moved from Cleveland.

Did you hear any interesting stories about your time there?

I remember Kanye coming in one time and I was helping him get a couple things. I forgot to take a sensor off of one of the jackets he bought and I had to run out the store to catch him before he left. Pretty funny me chasing after him in SoHo haha.

What do you think of BAPE at the moment?

I think BAPE is taking things to amazing new levels. I love the new designs and artwork. They stay true to classic BAPE style but including new and creative twists here and there. I love what they’ve done lately with my MILO character.

Do you have any styling rules when you dress?

I def stick to what works for me. I like to be comfortable, I have a ridiculous amount of t-shirts, some vintage but mostly BAPE. I wear the same jeans everyday a couple months at a time. I have a uniform haha.

Please tell us your plans for 2010.

I’m working on my new album now, “Cudder and the Revolution of Evolution” which is due out this Summer. I have an HBO show I have a supporting role in called “How To Make It In America” airing now. I want to do a couple movies this Summer and some touring. I like staying busy. Its not work, it’s fun
